"Community stress exposure in cultural context: Youth adjustment and parent-child relationships"
Speaker
Dr. Ann Skinner
Several international collaborative studies serve as the basis for examining how different community-wide stressors (e.g., COVID-19, living in a conflict zone) impact youth adjustment and parent-child relationship quality. This talk will explore both theories that explain how families cope with these stressors, and the benefits of and practicalities around engaging in international research. Two projects will be discussed in detail: An ongoing 16-year, 9-country study of parenting, child adjustment, and young adult competence, and a study examining risk and resilience among youth in Ukraine.
