Neurobiology Invited Seminar
Speaker
Massimo Scanziani, hosted by Lindsey Glickfeld
Duke Neurobiology welcomes Massimo Scanziani, PhD, HHMI Investigator and Professor of Physiology at University of California - San Francisco. Dr. Scanziani will present "Orienting Eye Movements in Dreams and Wakefulness" LIVE in 103 Bryan. ABSTRACT: I will present two recent efforts of my lab aimed at understanding the logic and the representation of orienting eye movements in the mouse brain. First, I will address the meaning of rapid eye movements during REM sleep. Second, I will discuss the impact of orienting eye movements in primary visual cortex during wakefulness. These two studies illustrate how sensory, motor and cognitive processes are combined and coordinated in the mouse brain
