Conceptual and Statistical Considerations for Deciding What to Target with Behavior-Change Interventions

information.Due to the COVID-19 situation, all events at Duke are either canceled or moving to a virtual platform. This notice supersedes any announcements below.

Speaker(s):
Rick Hoyle, Ph.D.

Rick Hoyle is Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience and Director of the Center for the Study of Adolescent Risk and Resilience, a NIDA-funded Center of Excellence. The primary focus of his research program is self-regulation, the means by which people autonomously pursue goals. A secondary focus is intellectual humility, the disposition to acknowledge that one's knowledge and understanding is limited and therefore may change with new information or more careful consideration. His research frequently examines the relevance of these concepts for health behavior and their potential as targets of intervention leading to behavior change.
