4/27: DIBS 'Coping with COVID-19' Zoom

RSVP via Qualtrics to get event link

Members of the Duke community are invited to join the DIBS  Inclusion and Power Dynamics Team on Monday, April 27, for the kick-off event of our on-line conversation series to support our community during COVID-19. You may sign up and submit questions in advance at this link: https://duke.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_a4Pge6SzBCrQ3MF

In this initial session, Melissa Segal, LCSW, will describe strategies and ideas for managing stress during the coronavirus pandemic. Specifically, she’ll discuss how we can create a new work-life balance, maintain connections, engage thoughtfully with media, influence our own thoughts, involve our senses, and care for ourselves physically. You will have an opportunity to ask questions both in the RSVP and during the session.

Following this kick-off event, we will begin hosting a series of ongoing “affinity” groups for trainees, staff, and faculty. These highly participatory sessions will use a restorative justice/circle structure to share concerns and generate ideas for tackling current challenges. Stay tuned for details.

Facilitator: Melissa Segal, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker who has provided individual, couples, and family counseling; facilitated a variety of support and educational groups; and implemented professional development and training. She is currently the Senior Business Manager of Duke Neurobiology and is the Diversity & Inclusion Leader for the Department of Neurobiology.
