NSF Seeks Faculty Interested in INCLUDES Alliances Proposal
Interested faculty should contact DIBS leaders by 7/24Friday, July 17, 2020
Duke seeks faculty interested in leading a proposal submitted to the NSF INCLUDES Alliances Program. INCLUDES is one of NSF’s Big Ideas focusing on broadening participation in STEM among women and underrepresented minorities across a variety of student populations and groups such as small business owners or veterans. The Alliance program could provide Duke an opportunity to collaborate with partner academic institutions/organizations on workforce development initiatives and/or building a STEM pipeline. Interested faculty should email Director Geri Dawson, email@example.com, or Associate Director Nicole Schramm-Sapyta, firstname.lastname@example.org, by July 24. We will follow up with the University.
A few things about the Alliances opportunity specifically: (1) It is a limited submission (1 applicant/nominee allowed to submit); (2) the proposal itself is more focused on developing a network of collaborations with a cohesive vision as opposed to something focused more on research; and (3) it will require multi-institutional and stakeholder partnerships. The award amount would be $1-2 million per year for 5 years, and the first step of the proposal submission is an LOI due in October (full proposal due in January).
All alliance members do not have to be local, but there are many reasons to explore engagement with neighboring institutions, such as NCCU and Durham Tech.
