Current research: I am doing research in Dr. Staci Bilbo’s neuroimmunology lab. Generally, I’ve focused on the impact of early life infection on the brain later in life. Currently, I’m working on a project creating 3D reconstructions of microglia, which are the brain’s immune cells.
My thoughts on neuroscience education: The neuroscience major was one of the reasons I decided to attend Duke, and I’ve particularly enjoyed my many electives. I’ve taken classes that look at human neuropsychiatric disorders from a circuits/cognitive neuroscience perspective, and classes that take a basic science/neurobiology perspective, and I appreciate that Duke’s neuroscience major offers such complementary approaches to the field.
