Neural mechanisms supporting robust vocalization recognition in the auditory cortex

Speaker

Vatsun Sadagopan, University of Pittsburgh

Like many computational and systems neuroscientists, Dr. Sadagopan's undergraduate training was in engineering. He obtained a B. Tech. (Hons.) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP) in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology. He then switched gears and obtained his PhD in Neuroscience from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he trained in auditory neuroscience with Dr. Xiaoqin Wang. Following his PhD, he obtained postdoctoral training in two visual neuroscience labs - with Dr. David Ferster (Northwestern) and Dr. Winrich Freiwald (Rockefeller). He returned to the auditory system when he started my lab at Pitt in 2015.
